AutoRama: Hot-rodding, chrome and speed return

Chop, drop and roll--that's the unofficial motto at AutoRama, the 57th-annual festival of hot rods and custom cars in Detroit. Chop--as in slice the roof off your speedster with some unnatural surgery to the A- and C-pillars. Drop--as in drop the biggest motor you can find under the hood.

Subaru Impreza

Following on from the Impreza concept that debuted at L.A last year, the all new Subaru Impreza, set to be unveiled at New York looks set to retain most of the concepts attributes. Subaru have officially 'teased' this side profile shot of the car, showing that the concepts pronounced arches, DLO and surfacing seems to have made the transition to production model, relatively unscathed. Subaru have been relatively scarce with information on the new model, other than to say that the new design results in a roomier cabin, with new level of comfort and refinement.

Concept Car of the Week: Nissan NX-21 (1983)

In the early 1980s, with the new millennium still seemingly an age away, Nissan Design America was tasked with imagining the family car of the future, while giving potential buyers a preview of the forthcoming N13 NX and EXA models. The resulting concept would be shown at the Tokyo motor show in 1983. Given confidence by the increasing success and expanding global presence of Japanese cars, including the previous generation N12 NX, Nissan's designers, led by Tom Semple, decided that the NX-21 (for 21st century) was the answer.
